Designing Windmills: Air, Weather, and Mechanical Engineering for students
ESP classes are beginning an engineering unit called Catching the Wind; Designing Windmills, which is part of the engineering is Elementary (EiE) curriculum developed by the Museum of Science, Boston. EiE is a curricular program that integrates the science students are already learning in elementary school with engineering design. Throughout this unit, students use what they learn about the science of air and weather to design and improve a windmill. The unit will begin with a story about a boy from Denmark who solves a similar engineering design challenge.
